For Next Week...

For our next class, identify a communication scenario that you were a part of—it doesn't matter whether it was formal or informal, written or spoken, verbal or nonverbal, etc. Then, given the rhetorical vocabulary we looked at today, think seriously about the following questions and be prepared to discuss them intelligently next week:

1. Who was the rhetor in your scenario? The audience? Can you identify a purpose?
2. Were pathos appeals employed in the scenario? What about logos appeals?
3. How did ethos effect the scenario? What were the distinctions among the character and authority of individuals in the scenario?
