4: Using Comments.

Now, suppose you thought that the second sentence of the paragraph wasn't needed, and you wanted to let the writer know your opinion on the matter. Here you could insert a comment. To do this:

1. Select the text that you want to comment on—in this case the second sentence.
2. From the reviewing toolbar, click the the "New Comment" button on the review toolbar:
3. A window will open on the left side of the screen for you to type your comment into. After typing your comment, you should see something like the following:

Notice the colored highlighting—this lets the writer know what text the comment in the margin refers to. Experiment with adding more comments and changes to the document before moving on. When you are done, close the document.
